Legal Question in Legal Ethics in New York

I am applying for the NY BAR admission and working in a small law office as a paralegal. Somehow they paying me from another company which is located right in the office of the law firm. I am wondering whether it is ok for me to work for this law office and perform some tasks for another company but getting paid only from another company not from the law office? Thank you.
