Legal Question in Legal Ethics in New York

judge acting as lawyer

My LLC was sent a demand letter from a lawyer who is also one of the 3 judges in the court. When I responded that I was going to counter sue his client for specific performance, I was served a suit by the judge/lawyers partner. I retained a lawyer who totally botched the case. A judgment was entered against me by the judge/lawyers co-judge. This judge/lawyer then sent a letter and the transcript of judgment to the licensing department. The licensing department was going to revoke my license if I did not satisfy the judgment. I satisfied the judgment. Can I sue the court, ( I am sure many other litigants have been taken advantage of by all three of the judges in this court), the judge/lawyer, his lawyer partner and my lawyer? P. S. the co-judge who rendered the judgment did not even know what a LLC is!!!

Re: judge acting as lawyer

You should start by notifying the judicial grievance committee. If you do not know how, contact the NY State Bar Association for more information. Report the courts conflict and see where that goes. Your lawyer should have sought a change in venue.

Then you need to hire an appellate lawyer to bring an appeal and move to set aside the verdict. THEN you should look to sue for malpractice.

Good Luck.
