Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

what is my next legal step is?
I am being suited for a major personal injury that is fraudulant. I can not afford a defence lawyer. I responded to petitioners lawyer that I would represent myself and sent a letter siteing NY Penal Law SS176.05. also letting him no there is no homeowners ins and asked that he discontiune, withdraw or I would request judical intervention. The pet. atty received the letter on 7-25 and I have not hear from them. What should I do now? the petitioner knows his statments are lies. I'd like to prepair myself for the next step without stirring up a hornets nest. How will I know if they are pursuing or if they have dropped the case?
