Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

Mortgage holder told 3rd party financial info about me

Is it illegal for a private mortgage holder to discuss my personal financial information, i.e payment history, loan details, with a 3rd party, even if the 3rd party is my significant other and lives with me? Can I sue for this? This is a private mortgage and the mortgage and deed are in my name only.is in my name only.

Probably not illegal, definitely not good business practice.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can e-mail me for more information about low cost face-to-face, on-line, or a telephone consultation with a lawyer in our office.

While clearly illegal, suing the mortgage lender will not get you anywhere. You have no 'damages'.

However, feel free to report him/her to the organization or licensing bureau that regulates the mortgage broker. The Secretary of State of New York State will have the information.
