Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

Disobeyed Traffic Control Device

Hello, I got pulled over in NY with 80MPH in 55MPH area. The police asked me if i had any ticket or suspension in NY. I said no. And then he came back and told me that he gave me Disobeyed Traffic Control Device ticket. He told me to mail it. My question is whether i have to plea guilty or not guilty. If i plea guilty , what would be the result ? I read it is 2 points penalty. Is there other penalties? I did not see any money charge in the ticket? But is there any possibility of suspension? If so , i would go to the court but have no idea how to explain, since it was supposed to be speeding ticket actually. Please help, thank you

Re: Disobeyed Traffic Control Device

There are several questions that I will need answered before I can answer your questions.

1. Which county was the ticket issued?

2. Which court is the ticket returnable?

3. Which state issued your driver's license?

4. Do you have any infractions on your record in the state that issued your license or in New York State if your license was issued in another state?

5. Which Police department issued the ticket (State Police or local Police)

My answers to your questions change depending on the answers to these questions.
