Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in North Carolina

Protection from Personal Injury lawsuit

I am aware of a potential ''sue happy'' individual who will have visitation on my personal property and would like to know how to legally protect myself, my family, and personal property from any personal injury to himself, due to his negligence. Basically, I was wondering if there are any forms out there that this individual could sign, that would release me from liability while he is on my property?

Re: Protection from Personal Injury lawsuit

That is a very unusual situation. If you really want to minimize your risk, you could conceivably draft (or obtain) some sort of waiver, which would state this person waives any claims against you and covenants (or promises or agrees or contracts) to not sue you. Sometimes these are upheld, and sometimes they are not. You could also, of course, try to get rid of all potential risks on the property, e.g. dangerous rugs, cords, slippery leaves. There may, however, be no absolute protection. If you really suspect something, you could consider a surveillance camera, to at least document any incidents on the property.
