Legal Question in Family Law in North Carolina

Child Custody

My husband passed away in December, 2000. We were separated for about 2 months and he had our 2 minor children during that time. I was unable to care for our children at the time of his death and I signed a temporary custody agreement- for a 6 month period- that gave temp. custody to my husbands brother and his wife. The 6 months are now up and they are going to fight me for permanent custody. The children are still in their home. I live in another state. Is there any possibility they will be awarded custody?

Re: Child Custody

It is possible that they can win if they prove that you are unfit. It doesn't help you that you signed the kids over to them. If you want your kids back, you need to get in there & fight like hell now.
