Legal Question in Civil Litigation in North Carolina

Purchasing alcohol for underage person

I was at a football game, where I unknowingly purchased alcohol for a minor. He was sitting next to us in our seats and had been drinking a beer. I had never met this person before this day, and had no knowledge of his age, other than to think he was over 21 because he was already drinking a beer. When I was in line to get a beer, he was leaving the bath room and asked me to get him one, as I was in the front of the line. He gave me money and I purchased the beer. I then stepped out of line and handed him the beer, and was immediately taken aside by an undercover policeman. I now have a court date in North Carolina and I live in Connecticut. What should I do?

You should contact a North Carolina attorney as soon as possible. You may have some solid defenses to this charge and you don't want to lose your opportunity to raise those defenses by ignoring your case.
