Legal Question in Employment Law in North Carolina

Is there any legal bound on any anti comptetive cluase in the contract. If i have signed a document can my employer stop me from joining the client i was working for under the original employment ?

Non compete clauses are valid and enforceable as long as they are reasonable in their duration and scope. Courts have upheld non compete clauses as long as they are limited in their time, meaning they are reduced to a reasonable time, say 1 year, for enforcement. Limited in their distance...say you can't compete against your employer in a 25 mile radius from their headquarters.
