Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina
Does a mortgage lender have to notify the borrower when the mortgage is cancelled ? I paid a mortgage for 11 years before discovering it had been cancelled and satisfied by the lender . I was not notified of the cancellation .

Technically no. But it seems you don't think you paid it off which means it could b a mistake they might seek to correct.
