Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Hi, I got a speeding ticket for going 70 in a 55 in the summer of 2008 while I was working out in Tyrell County. I just found out about the Prayer for Judgment option for NC residents. Can I still use it even though it is an old ticket? How much does it cost to do something like this (i.e. is it cheaper to just pay the increased insurance premiums for 1 more year until it is off my record)?

Thanks

Typically you could use it or get it put on the calendar and have it reduced to a 64 in 55 if it is your only ticket. You need to take care of it b/c your license may already be suspended. Also it will be on for three years b/c it is the conviction date not the date you got the ticket unless you get the Judge to nunc pro tunc it which essentially means backdating the conviction.

So to answer your question - you do need to get a reduction or PJC and you will save a lot of money doing so. Find an attorney in Tyrell county or see if you can do it yourself.
