Legal Question in Traffic Law in North Carolina

Taking the speeding ticket fall!!!!!

I recieved a speeding ticket yesturday for going 51 in a 35. I am not challenging the fact that I was speeding but the officer was going the opposite direction in lunch time traffic made a big u turn on a busy 4 lane highway (with a median) to pull me over 1.9 miles away. My first question is can officers pull you over if you have went out of their sight? Second question is how can i get the ticket if I was behind a work van and the van was behind a car, on the left of me there was a moving truck a little ahead of me? Should I fight this in court? When OI asked the officer how he chose me he said that he visually observed me speeding then the radar picked it up! But he was going in the opposite direction. If I have a case please give me a web site i can do some case law research on. Thank you so much for helping this stay at home mom beat this $150 ticket. Oh to beat it all he gave me a ticket because I couldn't find my NC liscense, that was also $150. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Taking the speeding ticket fall!!!!!

It may be possible to fight it. Depending on which county you got the ticket, it might be easier to take a reduced plea which won't effect your insurance rates. If you fight it and lose, your insurance will go up 25% unless the Judge grants you a PJC after the trial and you don't have another PJC on your insurance policy (for any driver) for the past three years.

As for the license violation, that will probably be dismissed by the District Attorney.
