Estate expenses
How liable are surviving children for parent's hospital expenses not covered by Medicare? My mother only had $16 left in her bank account after all burial expenses were paid. We are all on limited incomes and could pay monthly, but certainly not the amounts in full.

Typically you would not be responsible for parent's medical expenses. There may be situations where you are such as you signed a document obligating yourself to pay.
