What law pertains to pursuing ''romance'' in order to defraud?

I have heard of men being prosecuted and convicted of criminal behavior by pursuing (feigning) romantic interest in a women for the sole purpose of obtaining her finances. Please guide me to the correct code, so I might research and understand the pertinent law -- or laws. Thank you.

Fraud is fraud, no matter what the underlying circumstances, or whether or not it was romantic. So the normal fraud statutes, both civil and criminal, can be used to prosecute or sue this person civilly.
