Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Person recieved head lice

A friend of mine recieved head lice from a brush in my home. I did not know one of my daughters friends was infested with the problem and that she had used it and put it back. Now my friend is seeking I pay for all charges including 13 days she spent in a hotel from fear of giving it to anyone else as well as new clothing, food, and automobile gas. I will mention I am a licensed hairstylist.

Re: Person recieved head lice

Since this occurred in your home with a hairbrush that you own, you probably have some liability to the friend.

You did not actually ask a question, but I assume you are looking for some advice as to what to do.

Your first instinct may be to refuse to pay, and that could be the best choice to make. But there are also other things to consider such as the effect on your friendship and how it could result in bad publicity for your career.

I would suggest speaking with a lawyer and explaining your situation to him or her. He or she can explain your options you have, the possible consequences of each, and help you make a decision about what to do.

If you have further questions or would like to schedule an appointment to discuss your situation more specifically, feel free to contact me.
