Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

settlement of personal injury case

My case was ''settled'' prior to trail. I signed a release of the claim and sent to my attorney. It has been 70 days and I have not received my check for the settlement. My attorney is giving me the run around. Should I contact the judge who signed the settlement papers?

Re: settlement of personal injury case

Sometimes it takes a while to get the settlement check from the insurance company however 70 days is uncommon. I would send a certified letter to your attorney and ask him or her to provide you with your settlement monies within 10 days of the date of the letter. If you do not receive an appropriate response, contact your local bar association for further help. The Ohio Supreme Court has jurisdiction over attorneys and you may contact them also. It is not really proper to contact the judge.
