Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Ohio

My husband and I recently purchased a home. I was not on the mortgage, because of a problem on my credit report, concerning co-signing for a credit card for my daughter which she defaulted on.

I was told that I would be put on the title during closing. Instead, during closing, there was no title and I was told in order to close on the house I had to sign away my dower rights....Have I been duped..? What is the law...??

It would be highly unusual that the lender would allow you to add your name on the house at closing. You may be able to add your name to the house now.

You should consult with an attorney who can help you through the process.
