Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

inheriting realstate

Someone left me their real estate in their will. Does that include all that is in the house? And do I pay taxes on the house?

Re: inheriting realstate

You shouldn't inherit the contents of the house, unless the will spelled that out. You don't pay any estate or transfer tax on the house, but once it is titled in your name, you will be picking up the expenses like any other home owner.

No, it does not include the contents of the house. You do not pay income tax when you inherit a house. However, the Estate or you may need to pay Ohio estate tax.
