Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

Payment

I have been named the executor of my now deceased brother- in- laws estate and I would like to find out if this is something that I am supposed to be compensated for. While I am paying off any debts and handling everything the way it was set up, I want to know if during the time that I distribute his money and pay his bills, should I in turn pay myself for doing so? I'm only asking because this i something that I know nothing about and don't want anyone getting ''screwed over'' including myself. Can you help me?

Re: Payment

As Executor, you are entitled to compensation at the completion of the Estate. Your county should have a suggested fee schedule, typically 2-4% based on the type of assets. Ask your attorney to assist you in presenting that for payment. Make sure the estate is solvent and has enough money to pay all the bills before paying any bills and distributing money.
