Legal Question in Personal Injury in Oregon

I broke my friends headphones that he paid 50 dallors for, he got them on sale and they where orginally 100 dallors should i have to pay him 100 or the 50 that he paid?

The measure of damages in the law would be the value of what you broke. So the correct question is: How much would it cost him to replace the headphones now? Note that the headphones were not new but were used. If the new price is $100, they are worth less than that. If you can still buy them somewhere for $50, then they are worth less than $50.
