Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

bankruptcy

After winning a judgment in magistrate court, I find the defendant has declared bankruptcy. Do I need to appear at the preliminary bankruptcy hearing in order to receive any of the money owed or can I consider it ''gone'' as far as repayment. (and save myself the additional aggravation, money I don't have and time in traveling to the hearing)?

Re: bankruptcy

You should file a claim directly with the bankruptcy court. Going to the first meeting of creditors is generally a waste of time.
