What kind of help are you looking for?

Student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy.

Federal student loans have the ability to garnish your wages. I would look into working out some kind of deal with them and submitting your financial information.

Private student lenders are somewhat different - they must first sue and recover a judgment. They also will help with financial arrangements but may not be willing to do anything until a debt is in collection. However, you need to call them and find out.

If your parents signed loans then they need to repay them or they are going to have delinquencies on their credit once the deferments end. If they are having financial challenges then they will have to submit their own financial information. This assumes that they are the primary borrower. If you are the primary, then you will have to work something out. If you don't then the lender may come after your parents by suing.
