Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Adoption Questions

I have a few adoption questions. If a father is willing to sign away his rights for someone else to adopt a child: If my fiance wants to adopt my daugther would he be able or do we need to be married?

Also I obviously am raising my daughter on my own. If my husband is willing to give up his rights, who can petition to adopt my daugther as her second parent with me?

I want to make sure there is always a second parent/guardian in the even that anything would ever happen to me? What if a friend wanted to adopt her as the second parent is this possible or can it only be another man since she already has me (the mother)?

I am asking in the event that my fiance would in the end decide he didn't want to take on this responsibility.

Re: Adoption Questions

The fact that the child's father is willing to agree makes for an easier and less expensive adoption.

That said if a person other than the person you are married to adopts your parental rights would be terminated. So to keep them you would have to be married.

Now as far as seeing that the child is raised according to your wishes should you die that can and should be handled by a will.

There seems to be a lot of ifs in your questions so I think your situation needs much more analysis then I can give it here. However, feel free to contact me the initial consultation is free.
