Re: Name Change

The specific procedures for filing a Petition for Change of Name of Minor (or Petition to Amend Birth Certificate), are controlled by the county in which the minor resides in Pennsylvania. If you live in Philadelphia, the Domestic Relations Division accepts filing of these petitions. The change of a minor's name may be more complicated than that of an adult and it is always best to employ an attorney. However, you may wish to contact the appropriate court in your county and inquire as to whether this is an action you may take pro se (on your own).

If you wish to discuss this further, you should contact an experienced attorney in your area or, if it is convenient for you, you may call my office for a consultation .
