Deeds

If one spouse passes but is still listed on the deed to the home, is there any ramifications if a lawsuit is filed?

Re: Deeds

The surviving spouse becomes the sole owner of the property. So if the surviving spouse is sued then the house could have a lien placed on it to pay a judgment.

Most surviving spouses don't remove the deceased spouse's name from the deed. It's corrected when the property is sold.
