Right to know

Do I have the right to know what a potenial employer sees when they do a background check on me and if so how would I go about getting that same infromation

Yes you do have that right. Under two methods: 1) you can ask to see any employment records that are maintained and they must be provided for you to examine AT THE LOCATION WHERE THEY ARE MAINTAINED, 2) the Fair Credit Reporting Act and state law specifically requires that any information from a consumer reporting agency collected about you and which results in negative action (will not give credit, won't hire or promote, etc.) requires that you be provided with the name of the consumer reporting agency and a free copy of the entire report. Many places allow you to copy or examine the reports they recieved.
