Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

wrongful and discriminatory termination

Terminated in the form of position elimination.

History: Employed a total of 7.5 years continous employment with excellent & satisfactory performance reviews. Salary increases & bonus increases every year.

Told by new VP, direct boss in December, 2004, I would not receive an annual increase at this time. He was going to wait to see until a new person, who he recruited externally, was to start on 1/1/05. These increases are discretionary in terms of schedule intervals (can be anywhere from 6 to 24 months, my prior increase was 12/03). New person starts Jan 3, 2005. I am called into my bosses office on Jan 9 to be told my job was being eliminated, new person could do my job & more. Hence I was terminated being given more than I ''deserved'', 6 months of salary (severance for my length of service would be 14 weeks). No one else across the corporate function he leads has been reduced in forced due to redundancy. I was singled out. Was told this was not due to performance. I have never had any performance issues that were ever raised to me. Is this wrongful & discriminatory? Female, 49 yrs, Jewish? Do I have a case?

Re: wrongful and discriminatory termination

It depends. Is the new worker younger, another religion? How about the other workers? Have others been terminated in the past in similar circumstances? Feel free to email me about this to discuss further.
