Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

Hello, I have a question regarding security deposits in Pennsylvania. I had to move out of my apartment 2 months after my 1 year lease went month to month. I gave the landlord 30 day written notice of this, and he was able to rent the apartment out without losing a months rent. The lease had a clause that said that I needed to give 60 days notice to quit (I don't know how this works when the lease went month to month). Since the landlord was able to rent the place out through craigslist without losing a whole month, and he agreed to give me my security back, do I have a case in court against him? It has been 31 days since I moved out, and I want to know what my rights are and if I will be able to sue and win. I moved 4 1/2 hours away, so I want it to be worth it. Also, I know that I have to appear in court, but can I file my claim to go to court through the mail to save a trip? Thanks!

Yes, the lease ended so you were on a month to month. Which means you only had to give him 30 days notice. That's what month to month means. Yes you can do the complaint by mail.
