Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Pennsylvania

Lawyer's Fees

I feel that my lawyer is trying to take advantage of me by charging fees for services that I did not ask for, nor want. I have a child support hearing coming up soon. Over the past 16 years, I've been to several of these--without a lawyer. I called him and left a message with his answering service, saying that I wouldn't need his counsel for the hearing. I just received a letter in the mail with tips and suggestions concerning a support hearing along with a bill for $30! All the information in that letter was common sense, or knowledge I've acquired at previous hearings. Do I have to pay this fee for services that I clearly did not want, nor ask for, nor need?

I don't understand why you called the lawyer in the first place if you didn't want his services. $30. seems very minimal to me.
