Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

Uninsured Motorist

I'm a victim of a hit-run accident, I'm on my motorcycle and she's in her car, She runs a stop sign and hits me head on and drives away. Police officer runs her plate and it show Auto insurance, After 4months of thinking about it, Insurance company states car was dropped off insurance 2+ years ago. Car is registered in 2 names, policy from which car was dropped still exists for 1 name on registration (not the driver) with other cars on policy. Car has valid registration and inspection sticker and PENDOT says its insured according to their records. Im left with nothing as attorney tells me no one is responsible. I think someone must be responsible if PENDOT has records indicating insurance why didnt insurance co notify PENDOT then they revoke plates. Hit and Run driver was not even charged with having no insurance as it took 4+months for insurance co to state car was not covered and sentencing was alreay completed. Something appears to be missing???? Im left with paying for everything, medical bills, loss of work, long term physical ailments. Attorney says unfortunately we are the victims and can't do anything about this... Is this the way our legal system works. Hit and run driver not punished for no insurance!

Re: Uninsured Motorist

I'm confused on the facts. Bottom line- if the insurer says there is no coverage, you either have to accept that as true, or file a court petition to get a ruling from the court. Also, if you have uninsured motorist coverage on your cycle, or a car you own, or a car that's in your household, you can proceed that way. You can always file a lawsuit against the other driver, but if there's no insurance, it's very hard to recover money unless the other driver is very wealthy. Most experienced personal injury lawyers can advise you of the best way to proceed. Good luck!!
