Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Roomate Signed Lease, then moved out

I signed 1 year lease (for house rental) with another person. It turned out that we did not get along and he moved out. When he left, I said this was not a problem as long as I had a roomate to replace him. I did not find a roomate. Is he responsible to make up the difference in rent that I have been paying?

Re: Roomate Signed Lease, then moved out

It depends on whether your former roommate signed anything obligating him to pay you or your landlord. If he did sign a binding contract, then he is obligated. Your problem will then be to find him and enforce his obligations.
