Legal Question in Workers Comp in Pennsylvania

June's heart acke

My Wife works for a Medical Coding Company that puts great demands on the workers output. (The number of charts done in a shift) As you meet one quota you are given a higher quota.

You are also rated on your mistake %.

Last week my Wife was called into the HR office and given a verbal warning about her mistake %.

That evening she started getting heart palpatations and at 2am called 911 and was taken to the hospital. she was admitted and kept for two days.

She was told to consult a cardiologist.

She feels that this is work related because of the constant pressure to produce, and is afraid to return to work.

What are her rights. Must she go back and risk a heart attack. She was unabe to get an appointment with a cardiologest until April 15(almost 2 weeks)

Re: June's heart acke

Whether or not your wife has a workers' comp claim depends entirely on whether or not her treating physician will state that her heart palpitations are work related. You should be aware, however, that "heart" cases are extremely difficult to win. Unless she has a note from her doctor concerning her inability to work, she stays out of work at her own peril.
