Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Adoption - Father not on Birth Certificate

I never put the father of my child's name on the birth certificate, or anyone else's for that matter. I kicked the father out when I was about three months alond due to drug and alcohol issues and I was never 100% sure he was the father. Plus, we now believe him to be in jail. Now my spouse who has been there ever since would like to adopt my little boy. What do we need to do to make this happen? To be honest, we don't even know where to begin.

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Re: Adoption - Father not on Birth Certificate

You should contact an attorney who specializes in adoptions to discuss this matter in depth. There are several good adoption attorneys in Spartanburg and Greenville.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
