Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Divorce & bank accounts

My mother has a savings account which also has my name on it in case something were to ever happen to her, I would have access to the account to pay her bills. She is the primary account holder. If my husband and I get divorced, will he be able to take any of this money since my name is on the account? It was opened after we were married.

Re: Divorce & bank accounts

The answer depends on whether you contributed any money to this account and how the account was handled/used. These types of questions are very, very fact specific, so it really depends on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
