Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

I am trying to get a divorce. wife signed divorce paper only in one place. it took a year to get the papers back from her. before wife left we both lived in S.C. She has lived in mexico for the last 5 years. We do not have children.

do not own property. how can I get a divorce. I would like to remarry, I have a baby due in 3 months.

It is possible to get a divorce without the other spouse's consent. If the parties have been separated for more than one year, a divorce may granted on that ground. The most important step is proper service of the papers on the spouse. Even if the spouse's whereabouts are unknown at this time, it may be possible to serve her the papers by publication in a newspaper.
