Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My ex-husband has not paid me alimony or child support in five months. He lost his job as an anesthesiologist in December - due to a drinking problem. I don't believe that he is looking hard enough for a job. What are the chances that he can get out of going to jail when I take him to court? He lives in Indiana and I live in SC. The divorce decree is in SC.

You can file a contempt action against him in SC or in IN, and there are pros and cons to both options. You should schedule an appointment with an attorney to discuss the process and your options and then decide how you want to proceed from there.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
