Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

In the dark

I was injured in an accident over a year ago. I have civil and workers compensation attourneys for my cases. They seem to take some enjoyment out of keeping me in the dark and avoiding any contact with me. I have always been polite and try not to waste their time. Do they have an obligation to keep me informed on my cases? Do I have the right to see all of the documentation concerning my cases? I would like to know how to see all information on my case and stay updated on progress. I would like to know who I am actually suing. I don't want to be blind sided with some take it or leave it deal that is not acceptable.
