Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

Injured at MCDonalds

I was cut across the bridge of my nose by a steel toilet paper holder. I have a scar now. The company that represents MCDonalds has all the reports and pictures. They do except responsibility because the holder was not locked properly and they asked me to make an offer to settle. I told them I wanted $100,000.00. They waited several weeks and told me I was asking for way to much. I told them I would not settle for less than $60,000.00 and I was willing to go to court if I had to. I explained to them I have to live with this scar for the rest of my life and it's on my face. They say they understand but it's not worth that much money. I think it's worth alot more. they told me to hire a lawyer. Any thoughts???

Re: Injured at MCDonalds

I'n surprised they told you to hire a lawyer. That is the worse thing for them. The reason these people do not settle for fair amounts is because they know that your everyday non-lawyer person doesn't know how to sucessfully bring a law suit and take a case to trial. When a lawyer becomes involved these people have a whole lot more to worry about. Although you would have to give a lawyer a percentage of what you get, the amount that a lawyer can get for you as opposed to you doing it yourself generally fars outweighs the percentage. I don't know anything about what happened to comment on liability, so I won't. I am cureous how it happened though. I'd also like to know your age and what the scar looks like. These are just some of the considerations. Your welcome to call. Robert Johnston.
