Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Tennessee

same as stole my money

To whom it may concern ,

I hired a man that had an ad in the classifieds that did remodeling and such . I hired this man and he took all my insurance money that was almost $ 10,000.00 and never finished the job. I took it to court he never showed up of course the judge awarded judgement for me back all of the money I had given him.But what would be the next step in getting my money back. Is that not the same as stealing from me. Can you please tell me what I should do my hired attorney isn't much help at all . In fact if I had not told him how to trick him. He probally would have never got the papers served on him that I was sueing for my money back in the first place.

Thank You

Re: same as stole my money

There are numerous ways to collect on a judgment. My suggestion is to hire a collection attorney in your area who will likely know many creative ways to collect on this debt. Also, the collection attorney can advise you as to how to keep your judgment alive as it can be ineffective after a period of time. In other words, perhaps the man is broke now, but if you keep the judgment renewed, and properly record the judgment, perhaps you can recover some day when he tries to sell real estate he might own or when he dies and his estate has to be divided. I know this is not what you want to hear, but the truth is, getting a judgment is often the easy part. Collection is sometimes impossible. Best of luck and please contact legal counsel to investigate this for you or at least to give you some legal advice.
