Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee

Debts

Can a business take money out of your bank account for a car that was repossessed 11-12 years ago and on the court order that is 10 years old? I paid a portion of the bill but never paid it off and they just (without warning or notice) took almost $300 in payment and fees out of my bank account. Do I have any legal recourse?

Re: Debts

The answer to your question is dependent upon many factors. Judgments in Tennessee are good for ten years. If the creditor took action and did not enew the judgment, htere may be legal issues there. With respect to grabbing money from your account without your knowledge, thats okay so long as the judgment is legal. You have the right to petition the court for a motion for slow pay which would terminate any executions or garnishments.
