Legal Question in Family Law in Tennessee

What legal forms do I need?

I am trying to file for a divorce on my own without having to hire a lawyer but we have a 3 year old together. My question is exactly what legal forms do I need in order to take care of divorce, child custody, visitation and child support. Are there kits that include all of these forms? Thank you

Getting a divorce with a child involved can no more be handled with "a kit" or some forms you might have sent to you by an attorney than you can get a "kit" to remove your own appendix. Trying to do so begs for trouble.

If you get a "form" from someone and try preparing things yourself, please do everyone a favor and have an attorney talk with you at some length as to your situation and what you want to have happen and to then review the paperwork.

It is going to be very difficult for you to obtain a divorce without a lawyer particularly where there are children involved. It is possible, and you have a right to try, but be prepared to be sent back to the drawing board once you get to the judge because if it is not done right, the judge will be required to make you do it correctly. Best of luck.

agreed divorce

I help couples represent themselves in an agreed divorce. If you and your ex-spouse can agree on child support, visitation, and delivering the children for visitation, then this could be done with your own filings.
