Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Child visitation

I live in texas and my childs father lives in arkansas and i am trying to figure out why i have to go to court in arkansas when me and my child live in texas. He currently has no visitation rights but wants them after 10 years. so my question is why do i have to go to arkansas for court and can i keep him from getting visitation?

Did you ever have a court order issued out of a Texas court? If so, a lawyer can force the case back to Texas.

If not, get an Arkansas lawyer to argue the jurisdiction of the case be moved to Texas based upon the residence of the child.
