Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

Sworn statements include lies about me

I am a volunteer at a non-profit (501C3) animal shelter. I have not been, nor have I ever been, a member of the shelter's board of directors.

Several years ago, some other volunteers became angry at the shelter's president. The squabbles were just about everything, from the way the shelter's cages were arranged to care of animals.

Eventually they convinced the city's District Attorney to file a misdemeanor cruelty charge against the president, saying the animals were neglected. (The same volunteers were ''fired'' by the president for removing medical records and animals without her consent. These volunteers eventually formed another nonprofit.)

A trial has been scheduled later this year, and she has hired an attorney.

My question is: I am mentioned in some of the sworn statements in a negative manner. Example: I am specifically accused of ''allowing neglect of animals to continue''.

Do I have any legal recourse, either now are after the trial?
