Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

If a employer REQUIRES an employee to drive a company vehicle to do there job, can they require the employee to have a personal car to use when the company vehicle is in the shop? I understand that if the employee uses the personal car that he will be reimbursed. My question is can the employee be required to provide the transportation or is the employer out of line requiring a STANDBY vehicle.
