Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

On The Job Injury in Texas.

Employer had no Worker's Compensation Insurance or medical insurance coverage or any short or long-term disability insurance. Does the employer have any responsibilites legally enforced to protect employees with lost wages due to off work from injury and to recover medical bills incurred from injury? Is there also a law that protects employees from being laid off while off work due to injury on the job?
