Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Wrongul Termination

I was fired from my job while I was out on workers comp. The reason I was given was that I had stolen a company cell phone. Since I was still an active employee recieving benefits and was at no time asked to return any of the items that I had, how could I have stolen this phone. Since this has taken place I returned all items to my immediate supervisor and had him sign a peice of paper with every item return including the phone. they have denied me unempolyment benefits now that I am able to return to work stating that I was fired for theft. I also fear that they may be telling potential employers that I was fired for this reason. Do I have any legal recourse for this?

Re: Wrongul Termination

We could refer you to a lawyer for wrongful termination...where do you live?..it sounds like slander/libel and retaliation. Does the company normally let people go who make comp claims??
