Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

Auto Accident involving rock

I was recently involved in an accident in which a large (10-15lb) rock was witnessed falling off a truck and crashed through my windshield, hitting me in the face. I somehow managed to make it of the highway and stopped in some bushes on the access road, never hitting another vehicle nor person. How do I handle getting my medical bills covered on my auto insurance (under uninsured motorist coverage)? The police report states this is a hit and run accident, although the vehicle did not actually strike me. We have no way to determine who the driver of the truck was, or even get a full description of the truck the rock fell from. It seems since a witness shows another vehicle to be at fault, my insurance should cover it as a hit and run. Should I instead contact a personal injury attorney to help?

Re: Auto Accident involving rock

I recommend hiring an attorney. An attorney may be able to do some investigation for you and try to determine where the truck came from. The amount and type of coverage on your own insurance depends on your policy. Please feel free to call me at my office 214 943 2886 or contact me at my email address.

Yes, this is definately a case where an experienced attorney can help you. In addition to investigating the source of the rock, an attorney can review your own insurance policy to see if there is coverage for this type of accident, make arrangements to have your car repaired, and make further arrangements to have medical services provided to you. From the sound of your message it is imperative that you get help immediately. If you want to speak with someone from our office, feel free to call 214.739.0100.
