Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

If you were to be in car accident which was your fault with no insurance, and the driver you hit filed a damage lawsuit against you, how long would it take for the law suit to go away?

Lawsuits don't "go away."

If you are found negligent, and you don't pay the judgment, your driver's license can be taken away.

The length of time that the lawsuit will be pending depends on the jurisdiction. It will be over very quickly if you do not answer the lawsuit because the other side will get a "default judgment" and will then be able to collect the judgment by taking any of your assets that are not exempt under the law.

If you answer (and defend) the suit, which you would have to do at your expense because you don't have insurance, then the case would typically last 1-2 years before judgment is entered.

I hope this helps.
