Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Zoning Ordinances

We own a peice of property in which a building that at one time was a General store, but now is in need of being torn down. Our property is now zoned R2 (residential) and this zoning ordinance only came into affect 1 year ago. We purchased a 72000 manufactured home and was to put it on our property once the old building was gone, but Mayor and City council say no because of new Zoning. Said our property is R2, but yet to small to build or place home, and not commercial. Mayor stated that all our property was only able to be an empty lot! City is now tring to go and demolish the building on our land and put a lein on our property and basically TAKE our Property! What can we do?

Re: Zoning Ordinances

This is a very interesting question, and I have been waiting to see if an "expert" in condemnation law (which I am not) would address it.

You may have an eminent domain/condemnation case. You should consult with an attorney who does real estate litigation, specifically condemnation work.
