Legal Question in Family Law in Trinidad and Tobago

I was told at my divorce hearing that i must get a lawyer to file article 47 .can you tell me what is article 47 and why I cannot file it for myself? although I am not a lawyer I thought the whole process of going through the family court was so that I can save myself the expense of hiring a lawyer

It is a section 47 order. This has to be granted before your divorce could be made absolute. If you were told to get a lawyer at your divorce hearing, the court must have been of the view that there are legal issues involved that require a lawyer. It is in your best interest to follow the guidance of the court.
